Meet Jason

Jason Katz received his Certificate in College Counseling from the UCLA Extension College Counseling Certification Program. This UCLA program, providing a leading national credential in the expanding field of college counseling, draws students from all over the world, many of whom are already practicing college counselors. It is an intensive, seven course, 33 unit program of study, and Jason earned his Certificate with a 4.0 GPA. While he was obtaining his Certificate, Jason founded JKatz College Counseling in association with Barbara Menta, a pioneer in the field of independent college counseling, and the College Counseling Service of Redwood City.

Jason holds a B.A. from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, where he transferred after 5 semesters at New York University. He has earned Dean’s List Honors and an academic scholarship. He has studied abroad at NYU’s Florence, Italy program for a summer and a semester.

Jason stays current with all college counseling related information as a member of the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC) and by attending the National Conference of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) every year.

Additionally, Jason, born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, graduated from Palo Alto High School where he was Captain of the Varsity tennis team.  He and his wife, Cathie, a Kindergarten teacher, are lifelong San Francisco Giants fans.
